Trusting Thy Self

On this blog, I often throw around the term, Trusting Thy Self. Which was something I wanted to touch upon today. So, I thought we'd take a deeper dive into the true meaning behind this term, and why it is so important for self development.

This idea of trust that I often bring up, can be simply be categorized by the concept of trusting your intuition.

But, what is Intuition?

Intuition is defined by Webster Dictionary as the power or faculty of attaining to direct knowledge or cognition without evident rational thought and inference.

Or in simpler terms, meaning that gut feeling, that simply cannot be ignored no matter how hard you try to push it aside. Even if to you, it doesn’t make any rational sense.

However, intuition is seen as something more, something deeper than just this gut feeling.

It is a feeling that lives inside of you, a drive, an unseen force that pushes you seemingly against your will to do something that you don’t even have the capacity to understand why.

But even in those moments of uncontrollable urge, it still feels as though whatever it is you are being pulled to act towards, is something you want, something you feel connected to even if you can’t comprehend why or feel afraid to even try to dissect.

Why all this talk about intuition?

Well, I have noticed that throughout my life, I have been pulled towards things, activities and hobbies that truly speak to my soul but have been way too afraid to follow.

However, even when these things terrify me, I can’t help but want to dig deeper and find out more.

And in finally doing so, I have learned that trusting yourself, and your gut, is half the battle won. For when you finally “give in,” so to say, to this undeniable force, you will often find yourself feeling the sensation of belonging and comfort that you have never felt before.

A stability, a divine guidance, I had been searching for, for so long, found within myself.

So, how do you tap into this power of intuition?

Step 1:

First, you must begin to quiet your mind of all thoughts, biases, and feelings.

Of course, this is not an easy task at hand, but by practicing mindfulness exercises, whether that be a deep breathing & centering exercise, or a writing exercise, where you mind dump all the things running through your mind, to clear your head space, you will begin to align yourself with divine messaging.

For, when you are quiet, you begin to hear that which you did not, with all that excess chatter around you.

Step 2:

Second, you must practice.

Practice centering yourself in this quite space, and truly listening. What is your body saying to you? What is your mind pulling you towards?

This step will take some time, as you might feel that all you are receiving are simple notations of things like, hunger, annoyance, anticipation, or even the want to get up and move form that still position.

However, the longer you stay in this calm, mindful state, and continue to tune into yourself without expectation, the more you will be able to receive messages and guides that come from within a deeper place inside of you. From your heart, your spirit, and your soul.

Although it may seem like a difficult and taxing journey, remember that this can be and should be a fun experience.

To explore the innerworkings of your own mind, body, & soul, and to really hear just what you’ve been wanting to hear from the world, all your life, coming from within.

Now that’s something I wouldn’t trade for the world!

Closing

Lastly, I wanted to send you off with a message of love & hope down your road to connecting to your higher self. It is not an easy task; however, it is one well worth the effort & time.

Because when you trust yourself, nothing & no one can stop you.
